Doraemon loses Motoo Abiko, the last of his creators | Digital Trends Spanish

Motoo Abiko, one of the two creators of Doraemon, the robot cat from the future, has died at the age of 88. Introduced in 1969, the blue feline became an icon of Japanese pop culture.

Abiko was born in 1934 in Himi, Toyama, and created the blue pussycat placed in the service of Nobita Nobi together with Hiroshi Fujimoto, who perished in 1996. The level of collaboration between both creators was such that they worked under the sole pseudonym of Fujiko F. Fujio.

The alliance started in the early fifties and lasted for 37 years, after they decided to separate in 1987 after successes like Ninja Hattori and Obake no Q-Tarō. The duo said goodbye with Chimpuibut after the break works such as Mirai no Omoide, Sakura Shojo Myoudouin Kimiko, Shoujo no Lulu-chan and Ijin Andoro-shi.

Alone, Motoo Abiko set off with Futa-kun in 1964, but achieved resonance with titles like Sasurai-kun and Pure Gorufā Saru.

Dorameon comics were published in various magazines of the Shogakukan publishing house between 1969 and 1996. The character had three anime versions between 1973 and 2005, with more than 1,500 episodes, as well as movies and video games.
