The wines from the supermarket in September: from 2 euros to inaugurate the harvest
Rosés have become fashionable, but we do not believe that it is casual or fleeting, since current quality elaborations have left behind that image that our parents once had of clarets, which have returned with force.
Nothing could be further than mixing a white with a red and gullet. Now we have real wonders of the first quality, like the rosés of the DO Cigales, and here you are a good sample in a wide price range.
A bobal rosé typical of the DO Manchuela of Frenchified color with lots of sweetness and still green strawberry. It is sweet but tends more to acid than caramel; Peach and grapefruit skin comes out on the nose, while on the palate it is very velvety and voluminous while still being very easy to drink. 12% vol. 7.5 euros.
It is the wine of the bear that left its traces in the Bierzo vineyards of Bodegas Cuatro Pasos, a 100% mineral mencía on the nose, citric, with hints of stone fruit and fig on the palate, where it is intense, powerful and elegant. 12.5% Vol. 6.50 euros. Buy here.
It seems to us a great merit from Celler Pardas for their determination to recover the autochthonous sumoll variety in the DO Penedés because, 15 years later, they have managed to be recognized and valued.
This rosé is a great opportunity to try it, since it is the only 100% sumoll and is intense from color to aromaticity, herbaceous and mineral, and in the mouth, where it is savored with all its freshness and acidity. 13% vol. 8.89 euros.
From Bodega Traslanzas, unique wines with singular payments, it is so called because it is lazy until it expresses its full potential. A 100-year-old parcel wine from Albillo, Viura Verdejo, Tempranillo and Garnacha, pressed to extract the minimum color and with a slight aging in the barrel.
It exudes a touch of toast and white fruit on the nose, and on the palate it is subtle, long, elegant and gastronomic, pairing with everything. A great rosé from the area of Mucientes, DO Cigales. 14% vol. 7 euros.
It is a cava that has won the last “Food Award of Spain for the Best Wine” of 2021, from the Vilarnau winery, DO Penedés. A blend of 85% Garnacha and 15% Pinot Noir, with a nose of pink grapefruit and pastries, for dessert of rhubarb; very sparkling, a bit drying and bitter at the end, although acid strawberry predominates, with hints of citrus. 12% Vol. 9.20 euros.
100% Garnacha with orange or brisat color although it is not, it is an authentic rosé from Parés Balta, DO Penedès, citric, floral, mineral on the nose. On the palate it is one of those rarities that we love about its winemakers, with a tasty acidity at the end, soft, velvety, deep, with a playful touch on the tip of the tongue. 13% vol. 10.50 euros.
This syrah from Bodega Alta Alella, DO Alella, is like marmite sauce on the nose, very spicy; and in the mouth it is a festival of fruits, jasmine and herbs come out in the aftertaste. A very peculiar rosé, persistent in the aftertaste, ideal to accompany some broken eggs with sobrasada. 12.5% Vol. 10.50 euros.
From the Dussart Pedron winery, DO Utiel Requena, it is a delicious rosé, with a color that many would like burgundy, mineral on the nose and very tasty, deep, elegant and silky on the palate. It is magnificent from the first drink to the last minute of aftertaste.
And it is a luxury because it is a limited production of 580 bottles that is made by hand with bobal, garnacha and tempranillo from organic vineyards with passage through French oak barrels. 13% vol. 14 euros.
From Bodegas 220 Cántaras, DOC Rioja, makes this blend of 40% Viura and 60% Garnacha that was the best Wine of Spain and 1st of Rioja in the Decanter Rosé Expert Tasting.
This is due to the dynamic cold maceration for 72 hours and aging for six months in barrels and another ten months in tank on its own fine lees. Sparkling and floral, easy to get started. 13.5% Vol. 14.51 euros.
It is an onion skin type rosé from Raventós de Alella, DO Alella, with citrus and pink aromas and pure velvet on the tongue, with a very pleasant bouquet, light but savory, easy and tasty, both for drinking and eating. 12% Vol. 18.55 euros. Buy here.
It is a rosé from DOC Rioja, 90% Garnacha and 10% Viura. Super light, agile, very refreshing, very easy to drink, perhaps too much; dry, fruity and floral, with citrus touches on the nose and in the mouth, where the acidity makes it even gastronomic due to the contrast with fatty foods. 13% vol. 22.75 euros.
It is a delicate and fine rosé from Finca El Rosedal, one of the most historic wineries in the DO Ribera del Duero, a pale rosé as they are carried now but with a powerful, rich flavor that enters you like water from a spring in the mouth, fresh, sweet without being anything sweet (not to be confused). A great wine to contemplate life or to accompany pasta, rice, fish or vegetable burgers. 13% vol. 34.90 euros.
