2022: 12 months to travel, hopefully, to 12 new destinations

If at the end of 2020 we dreamed of traveling to a post-pandemic world again, in 2021 we have learned to travel with the pandemic. To take extreme precautions, to take the necessary measures and to demonstrate that, when the health situation allows it, travel can once again be within our grasp. And unless 2022 surprises us with a meteorite or some alien invasion, it will surely be a year of great travel again.

If conditions allow it, and we want to travel big again in 2022, we have 12 months ahead of us, which could be 12 great opportunities to escape to one of those destinations that we still have in the pipeline. Here are a dozen specially chosen proposals throughout the year to get to know them at their best, so that you can start making plans from January to December starting today.

January – Budapest (Hungary)

It is always a good time to travel to Budapest and look out over the two banks of the Danube, with Buda on one side and Pest on the other. Together they form one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and is characterized by its thermal waters, so January can be a good time to, in addition to knowing the most medieval side of Buda and the trends of the art nouveau from Pest, relax in one of its baths.

February – Singapore

Singapore is a peculiar and extremely surprising city-state. Because if you don’t have enough with its architecture or its mixture of cultures, wait to see its Gardens by the Bay, with its super trees and bio-buildings, or its famous gastronomy, both street and Michelin starred. It’s always hot here, but February at least is less humid than other months.

March – Maldives

Maldives is the dream of any traveler, because you do not have to think only about beaches and palm trees, but about much more. Especially if we like the life that lives under the sea. The Maldives is one of the best places in the world to dive and March is the dry and clear season, ideal for diving and encountering whale sharks and huge manta rays. If water is not your thing, relaxation is also guaranteed.

April Istanbul, Turkey)

Istanbul is a city to go to and return to whenever possible. Its historical area is easy and comfortable to visit, without ever overlooking its mosques, such as the Blue Mosque or the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the most beautiful, the Suleiman Mosque, the largest of all, and the Hagia Sophia, which was a cathedral. , mosque, museum and since 2020 a new mosque. The Galata Tower, the Spice Bazaar, the Basilica Cistern, the Topkapi Palace, the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus, Europe on one side and Asia on the other … So many things that you always want to repeat, and if it is in April, with good temperature and little tourism, the better.

May – The Loire Valley (France)

The Loire Valley is one of the most beautiful places in France, which makes it home to a large amount of tourism. That is why May is a good time to visit it without crowds. This way you will be able to explore the Loire, its vineyards, its castles and its palaces more comfortably, stopping to enjoy its gastronomy and take the opportunity to do some section by bicycle or canoe. If we are tight on time, it is best to focus on the central Loire, from Angers to Orleans.

June – Copenhagen (Denmark)

Copenhagen is a cold city for many months of the year, but when the sun rises it is abuzz with life and activities, which is why June is a perfect time to visit it and enjoy its streets. Moving by bike is always the best option and, beyond her little mermaid, you have palaces, squares, towers and castles to enjoy the beauty of your ride. If you also take advantage and try the smørrebrød, a slice of black bread with butter and different cold ingredients on top, you will already have the complete experience.

July – Toronto (Canada)

Toronto is the same as Copenhagen, that after hard cold months, as soon as the sun arrives and the temperature is good, everyone wants to go out and enjoy themselves at the same time. That’s why July is a perfect time to visit Toronto and make a lot of plans. You can see what is seen from the tallest tower in Toronto, the CN Tower, and marvel at its skyline from Toronto Island. Besides browsing Kensington Market, have a coffee in the Distillery District or try a stall at St Lawrence Market and, while you are, get closer to Niagara Falls.

August – Kenya

August is the high season in Kenya, for tourists, yes, but also for wildebeest. At this time of the year is when thousands and thousands of wildebeest cross the Mara River at the same time, with the spectacle that that supposes. The great migration usually reaches the river through the Maasai Mara National Reserve in August and you can be there to witness it, as well as a good number of lions and crocodiles who also want to be front-row spectators.

September – Yucatán (Mexico)

In September, the level of tourism in Yucatan begins to drop and it may be a good time to travel to one of the regions of greatest interest in Mexico. It is advisable to do a route in our air to know the most spectacular cenotes of the peninsula, as well as Mayan ruins such as those of Tulum, Cobá, Ek Balam, Uxmal, Edzná, Calakmul and, of course, Chichén Itzá. In addition, the gastronomy of Yucatan is full of delicious traditional flavors.

October – New York (USA)

In October, when the sweltering heat of summer is gone and the freezing winter temperatures have not yet arrived, it is a great time to visit New York. Listing the things you can do here doesn’t make much sense, because in New York, even for the first time, you always have the feeling of having been there before. What if the Empire State Building, what if the Statue of Liberty, what if Fifth Avenue … we are not going to tell you anything new, not even if we tell you about the best burgers in the city.

November – Japan

Japan is a fascinating, avant-garde and traditional country like few others, and has two fantastic times of the year to visit: either spring to see the sakura (the blossoming of cherry trees) or in autumn to be captivated by the momiji (the color change of their trees). The reddish and ocher tones take over the entire country and the landscapes that are drawn in forests and gardens are a true postcard. The maples become the protagonists and will make you experience Japan in one of its best moments.

December – Vienna (Austria)

Austria is always beautiful, it is a monumental city like few others and in winter it is resplendent.
