A 13-year-old boy, in critical condition after falling from a tree branch in Barcelona

A 13-year-old boy has been injured and is in critical condition due to the fall of a tree branch in the town of Vilanova del Camí (Barcelona).

According to the Generalitat’s Medical Emergency System (SEM), they received notice of the accident at 5:56 p.m. and sent an ambulance that took the minor to the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).

The young man was at the entrance of the municipality when he was hit by a tree branch and a citizen helped him get to a primary care center, from where they alerted the SEM to take him to the hospital, according to sources. close to the case.

The accident took place on a day when an unusual storm of rain, hail and very strong winds crossed the community and which, among others, also affected the Anoia region, to which Vilanova del Camí belongs.

In addition, the emergency services alert drivers that there are incidents on some roads due to falling trees and branches, as occurs in the Ronda de Dalt, at the height of Montbau, already in Barcelona.

The Rodalies service has also been affected by the storm and, specifically, there are delays on line R4, while rail traffic on lines R13, R14, R15, R16 and R17 has been interrupted between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Tarragona due to adverse weather conditions, although it was able to be restored late in the afternoon.

However, at the last minute there was another cut on lines R2 and R2-Sur, between El Prat de Llobregat station and the airport, so Renfe recommends that travelers use alternative means to get to the airport

The meteorological service of Catalonia, Meteocat, reported on social networks late this afternoon that the storms are slowly moving out to sea, and although it still rains in the southern Catalan counties, it does so more locally and less intense.

Tomorrow a calmer day is expected from the meteorological point of view, although in the afternoon it could rain in the eastern pre-Pyrenees and southern Catalonia, in addition to the fact that a drop in temperatures is expected.

Yesterday, an unusual fifteen-minute hailstorm in La Bisbal d’Empordà and other municipalities in Girona left behind a tragic balance, with a 20-month-old girl dying of trauma, fifty injured and considerable material damage in cars, buildings and street furniture.
