A Banker’s Grim Inflation Forecast

In his opinion, central banks are challenged not to let the situation get out of control: “They have to find a way out of their loose monetary policy, and the sooner the better.”

Inflation has been on the rise for months, especially due to the sharp rise in energy prices.

In October, consumer prices in countries that have the euro as their official currency rose 4.1% year-on-year, the highest value since mid-2008.

In Germany, consumer prices rose even more, to 4.5% year-on-year; inflation rate that had not been recorded since October 1993.
