A man arrested for killing his partner in Vilanova del Camí (Barcelona)

The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a man this Friday as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his wife in Vilanova del Camí (Barcelona) last morning.

As reported by the Catalan police, shortly after 3:30 p.m. At dawn, a notice was received of an attack by a man on his partner at his home. A local police patrol from Vilanova del Camí has ​​arrived at the scene and has arrested the alleged perpetrator of the crime, a 42-year-old man, for a crime of gender violence.

The victim has been transferred in a very serious condition to a hospital where he died hours later as a result of his injuries. Agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Central Police Region of the Mossos d’Esquadra have taken charge of the investigation.

If confirmed, it would be the eleventh sexist murder in Spain so far this year and the third in Catalonia after last February a man killed his partner in Martorell (Barcelona) and in March another man murdered his ex-partner in the Catalan capital.

Since 2003, the year in which sexist crime statistics began to be recorded, 1,137 women have been murdered at the hands of their partners or ex-partners. The number of orphaned minors has risen to 346 since 2003.
