A man surrenders in Almería after the death of his wife in a possible sexist crime

The lifeless body of MCP, 50 years old, was found this Friday by one of his children at the family home in Tíjola (Almería). Her husband has been arrested hours later, in the framework of an alleged case of sexist violence still under investigation, after having turned himself in to the authorities at the Civil Guard post in Vera, about 70 kilometers from the municipality.

The mayor of Tíjola, José Juan Martínez, explained to Europa Press that the body of the woman, who worked as a public employee, was found around 3:30 p.m. when one of her two adult children, who study in different cities, has reached the house and has found the body.

It was hours later, around 6:00 p.m., when the alleged perpetrator of the crime turned himself in to the authorities in the coastal municipality of Vera. There are no previous complaints for episodes of ill-treatment within the couple.

The Civil Guard, for its part, has confirmed the death of the woman and the arrest of a person, since it has initiated an investigation to determine the causes of death, which would have occurred the night before, and to be able to reliably link the detainee with the crime.

The Tíjola City Council has called an extraordinary plenary session at 8:30 p.m. this Friday to decree three days of mourning for these events, since it has called a concentration at 12:00 p.m. this Saturday in the Plaza de España, in front of the Town Hall.
