A shallow earthquake of magnitude 4 in Fuencaliente awakens La Palma

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has registered this Saturday on La Palma more than 30 earthquakes since midnight. At 06:42:48, there was an earthquake in Fuencaliente of magnitude 4 (revised), 9 kilometers deep and with an intensity of IV, felt by the population.

The earthquakes have been located between 9 and 37 kilometers deep, and a magnitude between 2.2 and 4.6

The largest earthquake, 4.6, was recorded in Villa de Mazo, 37 kilometers deep, and took place at 03.07.00 hours, with an intensity of IV.

The director of the Central Geophysical Observatory of the National Geographic Institute (IGN), Carmen López, pointed out this Friday that intermediate seismicity has decreased, deep seismicity remains, the tremor continues at low levels and the trend of decreasing deflation continues, although there has been a local deformation in one of the four centimeter stations.
