A sinkhole in the runway forces the closure of Vigo airport

The damage to the runway at the Peinador airport, in Vigo, has forced it to be closed and the flights that were scheduled to be canceled or diverted to Santiago. Aena reported late yesterday, Friday December 31, that the facilities are inoperative due to a “problem” on the runway.

The account of a group of air traffic controllers on Twitter has shared images of the state of the runway, which shows the firm raised in the area where planes usually land.

Aena indicates that the flights will be affected in the coming days and ensures that the work to repair the runway will begin “as soon as possible.” It refers to the airlines that operate the connections so that travelers can obtain information on the status of their flight.
