Agents of the Civil Guard have arrested a 29-year-old man who arrived in La Palma on vacation several weeks ago, accused of a forest fire crime due to recklessness, reports the Armed Institute in a press release. The attempt occurred on May 13 in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
“The Nature Protection Service has carried out an investigation into the possible causes of the fire,” the note states. “After the investigation, they have proceeded to arrest a person who had arrived on the Island a few weeks ago to spend the holidays, and was camping in the area where the fire started, without authorization to do so and outside the areas set aside for camping”, he indicates. Once the investigation is complete, he adds, “the evidence suggests that it was due to recklessness on the part of this person.”
The proceedings initiated have been made available to the Investigating Court of Los Llanos de Aridane.
