If you want to get rid of cable television service, there are a number of options streaming live that you can choose to do it. From Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu + Live TV -which offer similar packages- to fuboTV. And although it was born focused on sports channels, for some time now it has reached agreements to broadcast lifestyle and entertainment channels, which today make it a very attractive platform. Here’s everything you need to know about FuboTV, from channels and packages to prices.
What is FuboTV?
FuboTV was launched as a streaming service. streaming for soccer before becoming a more traditional television one. Today, the platform has the most extensive sports coverage, including the recent addition of the ESPN family, but its channels also do an excellent job of offering a variety of content for all audiences, regardless of age or interest.
Prices and Plans
Things have changed and settled for FuboTV. He no longer has a trifecta of plans (he used to have even more than that) and has settled on two main packages: FuboPro Y Fubo Elite. (The Fubo Starter plan was removed in March 2022.)
Here’s how the total cost of FuboTV breaks down:
Fubo Pro gives you 113 channels for $70 a month. With that, you’ll get 1,000 hours of cloud-based DVR (i.e. the ability to “record” shows to play back later) and the ability to watch up to 10 screens at home and two outside your home network, which Fubo calls “unlimited” despite having a fairly clear limit.
Fubo Elite raises the cost to $80 per month and has those same 113 channels, adding another 41 from the Fubo Extra plan, and adds another 10 from News Plus for a total of 164 channels. The DVR is still the same at 1,000 hours, and you still have the same “unlimited” 10 screens at home and two on the road.
Both plans come with a seven-day free trial. You have the option to pay monthly or quarterly, but there is no discount if you pay for more than three months at a time.
As of March 31, 2022, FuboTV had 1.056 million subscribers in North America. That makes it about a quarter the size of Hulu With Live TV, which is believed to be the biggest option with 4.1 million subscribers. (YouTube TV last reported “over 3 million” subscribers in October 2020, but has since updated that information.)
Compatible devices
FuboTV is compatible with devices from streaming such as the fourth-generation Apple TV and Apple TV 4K, Roku devices, and sticks of streaming, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Google Chromecasts. You can also access your FuboTV service from the apps of Apple television, something peculiar between the services of streaming live. Smart TVs powered by the Roku, Amazon Fire, and Android TV platforms are also supported, and there’s a FuboTV website to watch on your computer. It should work with most browsers, but the company recommends Google Chrome.
iOS and Android devices are supported to view the service on the go. The apps Android got a major redesign with version 4.0, including a redesigned interface that emulates what you’ll see on TV on the FuboTV website. This update also added the ability to access your recordings in the cloud and supports the Startover feature, which we’ll explain in the next section.
As of June 20, 2020, FuboTV is also available on Microsoft’s Xbox One game consoles and is the only game console to support FuboTV so far.
Characteristic
Cloud DVR is becoming an indispensable feature for live TV streaming services. FuboTV Cloud DVR works like a standalone DVR, in that it has a limited amount of storage available. The base package includes 30 hours of DVR storage, though you can upgrade to 500 hours for an additional $10 per month. Most users should be able to live just fine with the 30 limit. Either way, you can save your recordings for an unlimited period of time.
For most devices, DVR recordings are only available for viewing one hour after the recording ends, however, iOS devices and Apple TV support FuboTV’s Instant DVR feature, which allows you to get started. to see them as soon as you start recording.
FuboTV’s base package supports two streams at once (i.e. can be viewed on two different devices/locations at the same time), just like AT&T TV Now. You can also add a third stream for an additional $5 per month and add up to 500 hours of DVR space. Since these two features would normally cost $16, this is a good price.
If you have a 4K TV, FuboTV has the most 4K content of any streaming service. streaming of TV. In addition to sporting events that are in 4K, FuboTV recently became the first television service in streaming live on offering non-sports programming in 4K: Seven Worlds, One Planet from BBC America, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, was broadcast in 4K in January and February 2020. FuboTV says more 4K content is planned for the future.
A common frustration among sports fans who use streaming services streaming is to start watching a game that they are recording and that is already in progress. What if you want to watch it from the beginning? With the newly added Startover feature, you can go to the start of the game. This feature is currently in beta and is only available on certain channels and shows. It is only available on iOS, Android and Apple TV devices, as well as on the FuboTV website.
viewing experience
Although the services of streaming Although they haven’t yet caught up with cable in terms of overall quality, FuboTV is among the best looking streaming services we’ve seen, without the issues that typically plague other services. More importantly for sports fans, it also has a good number of channels that support 60fps frame rate, which makes it much easier to follow the action. While some entertainment channels like Syfy and USA feature higher frame rates, most of the 60fps channels are sports-focused or sports-only. Currently, more than 40 available channels support 60fps, and FuboTV says more are on the way.
That said, unless you want to watch one of those sporting events or entertainment shows available in 4K Ultra HD, FuboTV streams are limited to HD 720p. This is the industry standard for streaming live, but if you want something better, YouTube TV is the only service that offers live broadcasts available in Full HD 1080p.
When it comes to search, FuboTV differs a lot from other services, as its main navigation method is sports. To further specify things, you can filter by league or team, or search by sport, league, team, event, or title. This works similarly for entertainment and news channels, allowing you to browse or search by network or genre. A standard cable-style guide also lets you browse through everything that’s live at the moment, including any local channels you can watch.
On-demand offerings aren’t as robust as some other streaming services. streaming, especially when it comes to TV shows, but there’s still a fair amount to watch. Some networks do not have on-demand content, despite streaming live. AMC is an example, but this could be because the network was recently added. For movies, you can search by genre, just like other services, and while you won’t find the latest releases, the overall library of movies isn’t small.
4K and HDR
In July 2018, FuboTV became the first 4K and HDR10 content streaming service.
Because technology adapted technology so quickly, it killed off competitors like AT&T Now and Dish’s Sling TV. Even now, FuboTV is the only platform for streaming of live television offered by these two streaming platforms. HD fans will appreciate this high-tech feature of FuboTV. That said, we still don’t recommend having just one service based solely on this feature.
our advice
Do you like all sports? If so, FuboTV may be perfect for you, but keep in mind that it’s not the cheapest option and it’s not for everyone, especially if you want ESPN. In fact, if your sports tastes are more traditional, you might be better off with another service, like Sling TV, which starts at $40 per month and offers channels like NFL RedZone, ESPN, NBA TV, and more.
The downside is that this package offers fewer local media and news and entertainment channels. So between the two options, FuboTV may be the better option overall. Its additional features allow you to customize the way you watch TV at a reasonable price.
For those who live and breathe sports, FuboTV will be a good option, and you can find pretty much anything. If you are still not sure, we recommend that you access the seven-day free trial. We also recommend you consult our comparison of the services of streaming most popular, to see if there is another service that better suits your needs.
