Lodging

Lodging will always be an issue, and more so for events of this type because availability may end at any time, as it is well known that when you book in advance, the offer is better and there is greater availability.

For the dates that we selected at the beginning unfortunately there is no longer availability for any hotel (or at least that appears on Google); however, we have given ourselves the task of investigating how much hotel prices are a month before, so that you can get an approximate idea of what the offer-demand of lodging would be during these dates.

The list of hotels that we present to you shows prices for october 2022, since for November there was no longer availability; Remember that these prices are approximate, and that there may be changes at any time depending on the number of rooms available.

The prices presented are per day and per complete stay (in this case one week). Some of the options we find are the following:

  • Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha: 3,022 pesos per night; 21,157 pesos one week stay.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Doha – Old Town: 3,157 pesos per night; 22,098 pesos one week stay.

These prices are those corresponding to a trip from 24 to 31 October 2022; remember that the rates are approximate because no availability detected for dates November 19-26, 2022; any figures published here may vary.

Meal

Another important aspect to consider is that of food; Although there are hotels that include breakfast or have an ‘All Inclusive’ option (remember that this can increase the cost of your accommodation), it is also worth going out to the streets to explore the typical food of the region.

Before anything else, at this point it is already necessary to think about the Qatari currency because everything you buy while in the Middle Eastern country will be in the local currency; there is used Qatari riyal.

One (1) Qatari riyal is equivalent to approximately 5.62 Mexican pesos; but don’t worry, the prices that we will present below will be in our currency so that you can make your calculation, we only remind you that being there (or from here) it will be necessary for you to change your pesos.

In Qatar, many typical dishes such as Saloona, Machboos The Ghuzi They include rice, vegetables, condiments and different meats to accompany, and you can find them in small and large restaurants in the city, which is not really very extensive if we compare it with Mexico City (Doha measures 132 square kilometers, while Mexico City 1,485 square kilometers).

Although a good option to ‘save’ can be fast food; there are hamburger restaurants like the ones we have in our country with similar prices. Here is a small list of prices (remember that everything is approximate).

  • Big Mac or similar: 120 pesos.
  • Beer in bar: 250 pesos.
  • Economic restaurant menu: 160 pesos per person.
  • Cup of coffee or tea at the bar: 120 pesos.
  • Drink at the bar: 400 pesos.
  • 330ml soft drink bottle: 18 pesos.
  • 330ml water bottle: 8 pesos.

The stay of a week could be calculated in approximately 10 thousand pesos in food; it can be more or it can be less depending on what or how much you consume.

Transport

Another aspect to consider is transportation within the city, since to get from the airport to the hotel, and later to the matches, you will need to take a bus or taxi, which can also save a good part of your budget.

The approximate prices of transport in Qatar are as follows:

  • Taxi 1 hour journey (normal rate): 170 pesos.
  • Taxi 1km (normal rate): 14 pesos.
  • ‘Banderazo’ taxi (normal rate): 55 pesos.
  • Monthly public transport pass: 850 pesos.
  • A one-way ticket on public transport: 10 pesos.

As you can see, planning an international trip is not as easy as it seems; You have to save many months in advance to be able to make the corresponding reservations and thus have availability of both flights and lodging, which in this exercise could not be found for the dates of the World Cup.

Now that you know a little more about how much a one week trip to qatar (This is without counting expenses that may arise during the trip) anticipate; If you are one of those chosen ones who will be able to get to know the Middle Eastern country and attend the World Cup matches, we hope you enjoy your trip very much.
