Active cases for Covid-19 already reach 4,149, Minsa evaluates reducing the period for the booster dose

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced that evaluates the possibility of reducing the time of the booster dose in Panama, once the decrease in the interval is approved. It is currently placed six months after receiving the second dose.

He highlighted the importance of the Covid-19 vaccine, since the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have highlighted that current vaccines are still effective in preventing the development of serious disease and death, about the arrival in the country of the Omicron variant upon detecting a positive case and six suspects.

He reiterated the call on the population to be vaccinated and to redouble biosecurity measures, avoiding crowds, using a mask, hand washing and physical distancing.

The epid reportemiological study of the Minsa highlights that as of December 2, 252 cases were reported new by Covid-19, for a cumulative of 483,638 and that in the last 24 hours there have been no deaths, leaving the figure at 7,400.

4,898 were carried out registering a 5.1% positivity.

The total of recovered amounts to 472,089, of which 195 corresponds to the date.

In Panama there are 4,149 active cases, of which 3,837 are at home, while 166 in hotels. 146 are hospitalized, in ward 127 and in ICU: 19
