Afghanistan’s president leaves the country

The President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, has left the country this Sunday shortly after the entry of the Taliban into the capital, Kabul, at the culmination of the great offensive that has led them to regain control of the country after the withdrawal of international troops.

According to two sources from the Afghan network Tolo News, Ghani has left accompanied by a narrow circle of collaborators after handing over the powers over the authority of negotiations with the Taliban to the country’s political leaders, as explained by the acting Defense Minister, Bismila Mohammadi.

The Afghan president would have addressed Tajikistan, as confirmed by a close adviser of the president to the Indian chain WION News, without giving further details.
