The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, was willing in June, in a Zoom interview with a humorist who posed as the councilor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitscko, to facilitate the transfer of Ukrainian refugees against their will to the front to fight against Russia, something that international legality prohibits. The exchange can be seen in a video published today by the couple of Russian comedians Vovan and Lexus, who in 2017 already cheated on the then Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal.
The news of the false interview had been known since the end of June. Then, the City Council reported that the communication was cut off as soon as they had realized the deception. In the video, which has cuts and still lasts 17 minutes, Almeida speaks amicably with the fake Klitscko from the NATO summit and Madrid municipal politics, without the alderman realizing that he is chatting with an impostor until he he begins to grossly disrespect her.
The Madrid City Council confirmed at the time the talk with the false Klitschko. “When we found out, the conversation was cut off,” they pointed out from the consistory, which this Wednesday refuses to give more details about the incident.
