Anker develops a 3D printer with a smart camera | Digital Trends Spanish

Anker announces AnkerMake, its first 3D printing line and a true innovation for this firm best known for its cargo products. The first model is the AnkerMake M5, which seeks, according to the company, to correct the main problems that this type of printer has presented.

Anker points out, especially, the poor printing speed that previous models from other companies have shown. For the same reason, the AnkerMake M5 has a basic print speed of 250mm/s intended for projects that require a smooth finish. However, this device also offers a much faster mode of production at 2,500 mm/s2.

While the end result is rougher and less detailed, it becomes a useful mode for prototypes and random toys. According to the company, this level allows printing time to be reduced by up to 70 percent when compared to other printers.

The M5 was also designed so that it could be set up in no time. In fact, according to the company, it only takes 15 minutes to get ready and start printing. The printer features an AI-powered camera that allows the user to monitor the printing process from a distance. Thus, if there is a technical problem, the M5 sends an alert to the person’s phone. The print can also be reviewed live via an Anker mobile app.

This printer is part of a Kickstarter project, which means Anker could take a while before mass-producing this new device. If you are interested in supporting this initiative, you can purchase an AnkerMake M5 for an advance price of $429.
