Taking advantage of the cures of the well-received Stray, Annapurna Interactive held its second annual showcase so its fans could see what indie games the publisher has in store. Annapurna Interactive Showcase 2022 was a showcase filled with neat game reveals, port announcements, and developer association confirmations.
The showcase began with another look at the gameplay of Thirsty Suitors, which recently won a best show award at this year’s Tribeca Festival. The game’s quirky dating sim meets turn-based RPG and the skating game premise seems like a joy to experience. We take a look at some of the player’s funniest attacks, like calling his ex’s mom. Unfortunately, Thirsty Suitors It doesn’t have a release date yet.
We have a new trailer and a release date of August 4 for hindsight, a game about a woman who remembers her life by seeing memories through objects in the game world. Its premise and even the gameplay concept are reminiscent of Before Your Eyes, which has just arrived on mobile devices through Netflix. If you enjoyed that game, you might as well you want to play Hindsight when it launches early next month.
Kentucky Route Zero is one of the most acclaimed narrative adventure games of the last decade, and Annapurna Interactive is publishing the next game from its developer. Cardboard Computer developers showed up to reflect on the development Kentucky Route Zero and get ahead of your new project. We don’t know much about it yet though, just that it will be more fun than Kentucky Route Zerowill focus on performance and animations, and will feature a dog.
Bounty Star: The Morose Tale of Graveyard Clem is an atypical Annapurna interactive game because it is a western themed action game where players can pilot a giant mech as a bounty hunter. Still, it looks like a lot of fun, and it’s releasing via Xbox Game Pass and on PS4, PS5, and Steam in 2023.
Annapurna Interactive put the spotlight on a small two-person team at Yarn Owl for a bit during the presentation. They are a small team of two people working on a game inspired by The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. We can’t wait to learn more about this game when the time is right, as the dev builds shown in the dev diary looked promising.
Below is a dev diary from Third Shift, who are working on a game called Forever Aug. This narrative game is about an old man who explores and takes photos of the various landscapes of the United States and is based on a real trip that one of the developers took.
Richard Hogg, the developer behind Wilmot’s Warehouseand the developers of I Am Dead Hollow Ponds confirmed that they are working together to make a new game called flock. The flow of it reminds the flower by thatgamecompany, as players fly around a beautiful landscape and create a large flock of flying creatures. It also supports cooperative mode, so players can fly with their friends. flock it is in development for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. It will be on Xbox Game Pass at launch in 2023.
Annapurna Interactive confirmed that it is once again working with the creator of Katamari Damacy, Keita Takahashi, in a new game that doesn’t have a title yet. The teaser doesn’t show much more than a kid snoring in his sleep, but knowing Keita Takahashi this game will probably be pretty weird. It doesn’t seem like the developer by watthamFunomena, be involved after recent controversy.
If the developer of Found Dreamfeel is working on a new game, and Annapurna Interactive is publishing it. During the studio-focused dev diary, we learned a bit about some of the developers on the team and that their upcoming game is set in a fantasy version of Ireland and will feature cats as main characters.
To conclude the showcase, Annapurna Interactive confirmed that it will publish The Lost Wilda first-person survival horror game that had a viral trailer last year, and features players trying to survive in the wilderness against dinosaurs. While it doesn’t yet have a release date or platforms outside of Steam, the game’s visuals look amazing, and its premise shows a lot of promise rather than a new Dino Crisis or Jurassic Park game.
While those development diaries and reveals were the meat of the presentation, a significant portion of the showcase was dedicated to announcing ports of previously released Annapurna Interactive games. Here are all the Annapurna games coming to a new platform.
