Tickets can be purchased with the Flexa platform, which accepts the Bitcoin Lightning network.
They will also accept tokens such as LINK, ATOM, BAT, among others.
The chain of cinemas Regal, announced that it began to allow the payment of tickets with bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and other cryptocurrencies. The option is available in its 514 facilities located throughout the United States.
The American company reported through a release that, to accept cryptocurrencies, partnered with Flexa, a digital payments platform, which is powered by the Bitcoin Lightning Network (LN).
In addition to bitcoin and ether, Regal also began accepting the cryptocurrencies litecoin (LTC) and dogecoin (DOGE) and the chainlink (LINK), cosmos (ATOM) and basic attention token (BAT) tokens, among others. Likewise, it incorporates the stable coins USD Coin (USDC), DAI and Gemini Dollar (GUSD) into its system.
“Regal understands that digital assets are a rapidly growing and increasingly important form of value. This offers more comfort and options for the spectators than ever ”, highlighted both companies in the document.
To be able to pay at Regal cinemas, people should download the mobile app from Flexa (which also allows you to buy cryptocurrencies). Then the user must scan a QR code and pay.
“We are excited to partner with Regal as we work to enable universal digital currency payment options for movies and more, and help bring the future of payments to the movies,” Trevor Filter, Co-Founder of Flexa.
More movie theaters incorporate bitcoin
Regal isn’t the first movie theater company in America to accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Recently, CriptoNoticias reported that the AMC chain, Regal’s competitor, also incorporated cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.
The difference in AMC is that the option to pay with cryptocurrencies is only enabled for online purchases.
