The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has archived the investigative proceedings that it opened as a result of the complaints presented by several political groups of the Madrid opposition in relation to some contracts for the purchase of sanitary material by the Community of Madrid from which the brother obtained a commission. of the president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
Anti-corruption specifies in its filing decree that it does not rule on the crime of embezzlement of public funds from the EU, fraud and bribery investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office also flatly rules out any investigation against Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid. “The criminal hypothesis raised by the complainants was based on a sequence of events from which initially no reasonably plausible evidence was deduced of the fact under investigation, nor of its criminal nature, nor of the responsibility of the person in question” says Anti-Corruption.
The president, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, “has not intervened in the procedure” of hiring the company that paid a commission to her own brother. She understands that she was not even required to abstain. “There is no direct or indirect intervention of the President of the Community of Madrid in this file, nor – it has already been said – of her mediation on her behalf by Mr. Tomás Díaz Ayuso before any official or authority,” he explains. Alexander Luzon.
Luzón, who decided to take charge of the investigation himself, affirms in his decree that “it is difficult to disregard the circumstances that occurred in this and other acquisitions of protection material, with the entire population of Madrid – and Spanish – confined, hundreds of daily deaths and the pressing and almost dramatic need to acquire masks that would protect, first of all, health personnel, especially exposed to the virus.
