Aragon advances the closure of hotels and nightlife in the face of an “explosive” wave among the young population

In a week, Aragon has quadrupled the reported cases of coronavirus, reaching 631 today. 82.40% of positive cases are detected in the age group under 34, especially intense in those under 15 to 24. As explained by the Minister of Health, Sira Repollés, “they correspond to the ages that they are not yet vaccinated or are at the beginning “.

The cumulative incidence in the last week of the community stands at 155, 336 if we talk about the 25 to 29 age group, 706 in the 15 to 19 age group, and 1,111 in the 20 to 24 year old population.

For all this, Aragon goes to a modulated alert level 2. On terraces the capacity will be 100% and in maximum groups of 10. Inside 50% and groups of six people, the possibility of consuming at the bar is also eliminated. The closure of the hotel business is set at 23:00 and the nightlife at 00:30, although from 00:00 the premises will no longer be allowed to enter.

Regarding the celebrations, up to 120 people are allowed but with a mandatory list of attendees. In mass events, 500 people indoors and 1,000 outdoors. In shops, swimming pools, gyms and places of worship the capacity of 75% is maintained. These measures take effect from 00:00 on Friday, July 9.

The control strategies that are taken are “measures aimed at curbing infections in the territories where these age groups move, accelerating the vaccination strategy in the cohorts, overlapping them with the agendas, and protecting the most vulnerable population in advance of vaccination with the second dose of AstraZeneca. In addition to extreme measures for detection and isolation of cases and contacts. We are in a potentially serious situation and we have to keep the isolation measures and protect the vulnerable population, “said Repollés.

Regarding the hospital situation, the General Director of Healthcare, José María Abad has explained that this increase in cases translates into an increase in pressure on the healthcare system. “In primary care, the frequency of cases has risen to more than 1,500 daily cases that come to health centers for suspicion or having had contact with a positive,” he explained, in turn, that this situation occurs when beginning of summer, when part of the professionals are on vacation and in which “the possibilities of substitution are what they are, there is no facility”. For this reason, the tracking staff will be reinforced according to the needs of each health center.

With regard to emergencies, “we are having around 75 emergencies due to covid. The pressure on hospitalization and ICU is lower than what we have had in other waves with similar incidents, but we must not forget that despite this situation the Young patients can end up getting worse and enter the ICU or even die “, stressed Abad.
