This Wednesday Jalalabad has been the scene of a massive protest, repressed by the Taliban, in support of the national flag. The protesters were opposed to replacing the flag Afghan tricolor by white flag, inscribed with the declaration of Islamic faith. This flag – the white one – is the one that represents the insurgent group and the Islamic Emirate.

According to witnesses to the event, at least three people have lost their lives, reports Reuters.

The incident took place this morning in the capital of Nangahar province, one of the last cities to fall before the Taliban, according to EFE.

‘Pajhwok’ -an Afghan news agency- has reported on the social network ‘Twitter’ of the protest. The message reads as follows: “Protests in the city of Jalalabad in support of the national flag (…) The taliban have fired on protesters and they have beaten some photojournalists. This agency has also shared a video in which the group is seen walking the streets of Jalalabad with the tricolor flag.

The demonstration has been followed alleged shots into the air, by possible Taliban, to disperse this demonstration, according to witnesses of the event. Likewise, in the video you can also see several men crying inside a house.
