Ayuso asks to have control of the PP in Madrid to revalidate “Aguirre’s successes”

Isabel Díaz Ayuso insists that she wants to lead the Madrid PP despite the fact that the party’s national leader, Pablo Casado, has not wanted to support her publicly and has even put the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, in the fight for the Leadership of training at the regional level and privately speaks of a third way. Despite these issues, Ayuso remains firm in his decision to appear in the primaries and this Monday he has asked that Congress be held “soon” while tensions with the national leadership continue to increase. The Madrid Regional Congress will be the last to be held and is not expected until at least the first quarter of 2022.

The president of the Community of Madrid has insisted in an interview on esRadio that remains determined and that what she seeks is to reissue “the successes” of Esperanza Aguirre when she was both regional president and of the PP of Madrid. “I think it is important that it be done soon and, well, to give normality to an organization that, when both the parliamentary group and the Government have worked in unison, has produced successes that we all remember as those of the Esperanza Aguirre stage”, has ensured in the microphones of Federico Jiménez Losantos, who has made a closed defense for Ayuso.

Aguirre herself also wanted to come out this Monday to support her. In an interview this Monday in the World, Aguirre affirms that “to hinder Ayuso is to help Sánchez.” “My opinion is that Almeida is not going to show up. And what he says is that those from Genoa are pushing him. It may be true, because some of the little ones that they have behind in Genoa and Almeida is what they are saying”, has launched the former president of Madrid.

Ayuso has a trip to the US at the end of the month that will coincide with the PP’s national Convention. The Madrid president has assured that she hopes her possible absence from the internal process will not be taken as “a slight to anyone.” The Madrid leader has made it clear that government responsibilities are “above all.” Ayuso has defended that this type of trip “with the complexity that they have and taking into account the Covid measures” has been organized for a long time.

“I am a bit of a prisoner of an organization from a long time ago. If I can get to the Convention by shortening the trip, taking away a meeting, I will do it,” he said.
