Bayonetta 3 made its commercial debut four whole years ago during the 2017 Game Awards with a logo reveal. Nine months ago, we got our first glimpses of gameplay and battle improvements with a gameplay trailer. With today’s release date reveal trailer, more details about the gameplay, story, and a new playable character have been shared, making Bayonetta 3 appears to be the most expansive title in the series to date.
All of the action gameplay that fans have come to love from the series is returning with an added kaiju flavor. Bayonetta can now directly control his giant demon summons and actively fight other giant enemies. He also has a new ability called “Demon Masquerade”, which allows him to channel the demon linked to his weapon, adding more combos to the mix.
The story takes Bayonetta to more realistic places like China and Japan. is also confirmed that there will be more than one Bayonetta to meet in Bayonetta 3and others will be part of a virtual coven.
Finally, a new character, a katana-wielding witch-in-training named Viola joins the cast as the new supporting playable character. She comes with a giant feline ally named Cheshire, which adds to the Alice in Wonderland dimension jump the game seems to be going for.
