The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has assured this Sunday to the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, that there will be a “Firm response” if Russia launches an invasion on Ukrainian territory.

“President Biden has made it clear that the United States and its allies will respond firmly if Russia invades more Ukraine,” explained White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki in an appearance to report on the telephone conversation between Biden and Zelenski.

Both Biden and Zelenski have expressed their support for diplomatic efforts such as the appointment of the Strategic Stability Dialogue scheduled for next week, the NATO-Russia Council channel or the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). “President Biden underscores the commitment of the United States and its allies to ‘nothing about you without you,'” said Psaki.

In addition, Biden has underlined the US commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and has supported confidence and tension reduction measures in Donbas, as well as active diplomacy to implement the Minsk Accords and in support of the Normandy Format.

In recent weeks, the tension around Russia and Ukraine is maximum, due to international concerns about a possible Russian invasion of the territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden they had a conversation on the matter Thursday. Biden has threatened “unprecedented” economic sanctions if a hypothetical attack occurred, something the Kremlin has denied.
