The American Collective Black Lives Matter, which has led the racial protest and was one of the great fronts of opposition to part of the policies of Donald Trump, has issued an incendiary statement in which he blames the misery and anguish in Cuba a USA and the embargo.
“This cruel and inhumane policy, applied with the explicit intention of destabilizing the country and undermining the right of Cubans to choose their own government, is at the center of Cuba’s current crisis,” said Black Lives Matter in its statement published in the social network Instagram. «Since 1962, the United States has forced pain and suffering on the people of Cuba by cutting off food, medicine and supplies, which has cost the small island an estimated loss of 130,000 million [de dólares]»He added.
There was no mention in that communiqué of the repression dissidents, or the arrest of journalists. This group does say that “Cuba has traditionally expressed solidarity with the descendant peoples of Africa, by protecting black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur, to support the fight for freedom in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau and South Africa.” Shakur is actually JoAnne Deborah Byron, who was convicted of murder in the US and is on the run in Cuba, in search and capture by the FBI.
Black Lives Matter did acknowledge the Cuban regime for its solid “medical care and history of providing doctors and nurses to disasters around the world.” Many international organizations, including the Organization of American States, have denounced the semi-slavery regime in which those doctors who Cuba sends abroad live, and whose services have served to generate income for Castroism.
Several Republicans have criticized Black Lives Matter’s apparent support for Cuba, Senator Ted Cruz Through his Twitter profile he said: «Shameful. The Black Lives Matter group (funded by the major players in corporate America) was founded by outspoken Marxists and, as millions of Cubans risk their lives to rise up for freedom, BLM [por sus siglas] supports… the communist dictatorship.
The senator Marco Rubio He was also highly critical: “The extortionist ring known as Black Lives Matter took a break today from shaking up corporations by the millions and buying mansions to share their support for the communist regime.” In a message on Twitter, Rubio invited the leaders of that group born to combat racism to emigrate to Cuba, something that, he said, would help them do with pleasure.
Black Lives Matter (which translates to Black Lives Matter) was founded in 2013 to fight racism and today is a formidable political organizing force ideologically close to the Democrats.
