In Carne Cruda we interview the director Carla Simón, winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin thanks to her second feature film as director, “Alcarrás”.
With only two films, this 35-year-old from Barcelona has created a world of her own with her transparent and raw look at the unique stories of ordinary people: neorealism made in Catalonia. “Alcarrás” is a spectacular investigation about family, work and the land that removes like a hoe many of the issues that are going through us today as a society: the end of an era for many generations of farmers; the yoke of extensive models that suffocate the countryside; the sad loss of a good habit: caring for and pampering the land in which one is born.
You can listen here to the complete film monograph with Marta Medina in which we take a walk through the Malaga Festival, review the Oscars and premiere a section with TCM Now on the 80th anniversary of Michael Haneke.
