The Government has approved this Tuesday the reopening of nightlife in indoor spaces from this Friday. After almost a year and a half of total closure, with the exception of a few days last June, the discos, bars and music venues will be able to reopen at the usual hours for clients who come with the COVID certificate of complete vaccination or with a negative PCR test. To agree, the Government will request permission from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), which must endorse the measure.
“Nightlife will reopen with all sanitary but also legal guarantees,” explained the Government spokesperson, Patricia Plaja, who explained that it will be tomorrow when Salut will present its resolution to the TSJC for being “aware of the effects on rights fundamental “that the use of the COVID certificate entails. As for the capacity, they will have a maximum capacity of 70% and the use of masks will be mandatory, but it will be allowed to use the dance floor.
Since last September 23, a part of the nightlife is allowed, but only that which is celebrated is outdoors until three in the morning. A measure that the sector considered insufficient, since it demands a total reopening of the premises due to the positive evolution of the pandemic. As Plaja has indicated, this Tuesday there has been a meeting with the sector and at the moment the committee that manages the pandemic in Catalonia, the Procicat, is finishing the details of the measure, which will be announced this afternoon at 5:00 p.m.
Another of the advanced changes “if the epidemiological data accompany” is the recovery of 100% of the presence in the universities, something that in any case would be announced next week, in addition to an increase in capacity in the sports and cultural field up to 80%.
