The Generalitat will open the vaccination of the population between 30 and 34 years from next Monday, June 28. The Secretary of Public Health, Carmen Cabezas, has argued that in this way they accelerate immunization among this group – it was only a week ago that those between 35 and 39 began to be vaccinated – due to the rebound in COVID-19 cases in the last days.
“That is precisely to get closer to these younger ages who are increasing incidence,” said Head, who has defined the decision of this Wednesday as a “progressive and rapid opening.” Catalonia has administered more than 6 million doses so far, with more than 30% of the population on the complete regimen.
“At the moment we have a series of days in which it is rising progressively and it will surely continue to do so in the coming days,” Cabezas said about the upward trend of the epidemic, although still in low figures. In this sense, he has not ruled out also advancing the vaccination of those under 30 if infections are triggered among them.
