Chevrolet announced that in August 2022 it will stop manufacturing the Spark, the cheapest car in the entire United States.
The announcement of the cessation of production of the Spark was confirmed by Chevrolet in a statement to the portal road show.
“We will continue to produce the Spark through August 2022, after which it will roll off the Chevrolet lineup. Customers looking for comfort, functionality and style at an affordable price will still have several options within Chevrolet’s family of compact SUVs,” said a company spokesperson.
The Chevrolet Spark starts at $14,595 and is the cheapest car you can buy in America. Chevrolet’s next most affordable option is the Trax, which starts at $22,595. The other option is the Trailblazer SUV, $22,795.
The confirmation of the cessation of production of the Spark occurs after Chevrolet reported sales of just 24,459 units of the car in 2021. In contrast, the Trax displaced 90,161 units in the same period.
After the Spark leaves Chevrolet’s catalog in mid-2022, the cheapest car you can buy in the United States will be the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback, which starts at $15,640.
