China’s cotton production falls 3% in 2021


China’s cotton production declined slightly this year, according to official data released.

Cotton production stood at 5.73 million tonss, which represents an interannual fall of 3%, according to el National Bureau of Statistics.

However, the yield per hectare rose by 1.5% to 1,892.6 kilos, thanks to favorable weather conditions and the correct management of the fields by growers, according to Wang Minghua, official of the entity.

The total cotton crop area fell by 4.4% compared to last year and stood at close to 3.03 million hectares, according to the same source.
