COVID-19 in Mexico: 9,242 new cases and 206 additional deaths are registered

The Ministry of Health reported this Monday 9 thousand 242 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 5,160,767.

The agency added that the incidence rate of accumulated cases is 3.96 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Regarding deaths from the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the agency reported 206 deaths, bringing the total number to 309,752.


On the other hand, active cases (people who have shown symptoms of the disease during the last 14 days) were located in 146 thousand 575.

From this Monday, it came into force the new COVID traffic light, in which an increase in the number of states in orange is observed, the phase that represents a high risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following entities will remain at that level from this Monday until next February 20.

  • Sonora
  • Chihuahua
  • Sinaloa
  • Nayarit
  • Jalisco
  • Colima
  • Aguascalientes
  • Zacatecas
  • Coahuila
  • New Lion
  • Tamaulipas
  • San Luis Potosi
  • Queretaro

At the previous traffic light, only 9 states were placed under that alert level. On the other hand, 13 entities are in yellow (including CDMX), while only four will remain in green, the low risk phase due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic: Campeche, Chiapas, Tlaxcala and Veracruz.
