Crunchyroll will not allow you to watch anime for free with ads | Digital Trends Spanish

Crunchyroll is the platform most loved by anime fans as it has one of the most generous catalogs of this genre. Another of the strong points of this service is that it allows you to watch chapters with ads for free. The bad news for viewers is that a new subscription policy would end this option.

A few days ago, the platform announced its plans to eliminate the free tier with ads, anticipating changes to “advertising viewing support.” The statement published on the Crunchyroll website indicates that the option to watch free episodes with ads will be removed with the arrival of the spring season, in the period between April and June.

“With the Spring 2022 season and in future seasonal releases, Crunchyroll will update our offer of titles in simulcasts by subscription levels”, explains the platform.

“It will be necessary to have a monthly or annual premium subscription to be able to see the new simulcasts and those that continue. With the exception of the titles mentioned a little below, we will no longer offer the option to watch the simulcasts a week later and with advertising.

As a way to facilitate this transition period, the first three chapters of a group of selected series can be seen with advertising a week after their premieres. However, this option will end for all productions on May 31.

These are the series that are part of this measure along with their release dates:

  • Spy x Family (April 9)
  • Skeleton Knight in Another World (April 7)
  • A Couple of Cuckoos (April 24)
  • Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (April 3)
  • Tomodachi Game (April 6)
  • Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie (April 10)
  • The Dawn of the Witch (April 8)
  • The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody (April 6)
