Despite the decrease in Covid-19 indicators, Minsa calls on the population to be vaccinated

Despite the decrease in deaths, active cases and hospitalizationss that reports the latest report on the situation of Covid-19 in Panama, prepared by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Ministry of Health (Minsa) calls on the population not to lower their guard, to continue with biosecurity measures and go to get vaccinated at authorized posts, since the recovery of the country is a commitment of all.

According to the PAHO report as of last October 30, there were 8 deaths from Covid-19 against 27 that occurred on October 16, 2021 for a decrease of 70.4%. In addition, in the same period, active cases had a decrease of 8.2%; new cases of 5.7%, hospitalizations in wards of 22.8% and hospitalizations in ICU / Semi ICU of 18.6%.

Vaccination report

The report provided by the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) indicates that by November 9, 5,860,907 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 throughout the country. Of that total, 3,044, 147 correspond to first dose; 2,699,426 second dose; 5,474 third dose and 111,860 booster dose.

Of the target population to be vaccinated (3,454,142), from the age of 12, the report specifies that a 88.1% of that population has the first dose and 78.2% the second.

To continue with the vaccination program they arrived in the country yesterday 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccines.

As of Thursday, November 11, Operation PanavaC-19 continues in the 8-1 circuit in Arraiján; on 8-10 in East Panama for the application of the booster dose, while circuit 12-2 of the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca will proceed with a vaccination sweep from the 12-year-old population.

Epidemiological report

The report of the Department of Epidemiology of the Minsa indicates that by November 9, 250,511,488 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported in the world, and 5,059,656 deaths for a fatality of 2%.

In Panama, 473,718 accumulated cases were reported, of which 196 are new cases; En the last 24 hours, two new deaths occurred and a previous date is updated for a cumulative 7,338 deaths from Covid-19.

In the country, 6,809 tests were applied for a percentage of positivity of 2.8%: in addition, 207 new recovered are added today for a cumulative of 464,753.

Active cases amount to 1,627, of which 1,483 are in home isolation and 144 hospitalized. Those who are in home isolation are divided into 1,407 at home and 76 in hotels. L117 are hospitalized in wards and 27 in ICU.
