A rather artificial controversy arose in the last few hours, after director Joe Dante, who is behind the successful 1984 film, the gremlinscharged that his protagonist Gizmo is equal to Baby Yoda of The Mandalorian.
According to the film director, the people of starwars He almost completely drew the artistic and graphic concept of his good gremlin for Grogu.
Dante has explained it in a recent interview to the San Francisco Chronicle:
“I think the longevity of (the Gremlins movies) is really key to this character (Gizmo), who is essentially like a baby. Which brings me, of course, to the topic of Baby Yoda, which is completely stolen and simply copied. Shamelessly, in my opinion.”
He wasn’t the only “gremlin” to ever address the issue, as the film’s star, Zach Galligan, told Entertainment Weekly last year that he believed “[su] friend was prettier,” largely due to Grogu’s baldness.
