EA removes soccer player accused of rape from FIFA 22 | Digital Trends Spanish

EA has decided to remove from its FIFA 22 video game French footballer Benjamin Mendy, who is in preventive prison after facing four charges of rape and one of sexual assault.

The player has already been suspended by his club, Manchester City, after the complaints about these events that would have occurred between October 2020 and August 2021 became known.

According to the police, the accusers are three people over 16 years of age.

The company confirmed that Mendy was removed from the video game templates, while his card in Ultimate Team mode was also removed while this case is being solved.

“While Benjamin Mendy has been removed from the active squads of both Manchester City and the French national team, he has also been removed from the respective squads in FIFA 22 and has been suspended from appearing in the FIFA Ultimate Team and Ultimate Draft packs while awaits his trial, “says a statement from EA.

Mendy, 27, was suspended from the Premier League club in August. However, his face still appears on the team’s official site.

Meanwhile, many have criticized the delay by EA to make this decision, and that it took place more than a month after the “Citizens” club suspended Mendy.

It should be remembered that Benjamin Mendy won the 2018 World Cup with the France team shirt.

FIFA 22 will be released on October 1 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.
