What would happen if the elements of nature had their own life and personality? That is the premise of Elemental, the new film by pixar that takes us to the world of the elements: fire, water, earth and air.
Elemental introduces us to Ember and Wade, two young people who live in Element City, a city where the residents of the four elements live in harmony. Ember is a fire girl who has always been close to her Firetown home, while Wade is a water boy who works at a waterfall skyscraper. Despite their differences, both will discover that they have a lot in common and that together they can experience great adventures.
The film is directed by Peter Sohn, who previously worked at Pixar as an animator, story artist, and voice director on films like Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Up. The script is written by John Hoberg, Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh, who have worked on television series such as My Name Is Earl and Galavant.
The voice cast includes Leah Lewis (Nancy Drew) as Ember, Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World: Dominion) as Wade, Ronnie del Carmen (Inside Out) as Bernie, Ember’s father, Shila Ommi (The Good Place) as Cinder, Ember’s mother, Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs) as Gale, Wade’s boss, Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) as Brook, Wade’s mother, Mason Wertheimer (The Big Bang Theory) as Clod, Ember’s land neighbor; and Joe Pera (Joe Pera Talks with You) as Fern, a city bureaucrat.
The music is composed by Thomas Newman. The composer has been nominated for an Oscar fifteen times and has won two Grammy Awards and six BAFTA Awards.
Elemental will be released on June 16, 2023 in theaters. The official trailer was released on March 28 and shows us the beauty and diversity of the world of elements. We can see how each element has its own personality, lifestyle and way of interacting with others. We can also appreciate the humor and chemistry between the protagonists, as well as some scenes of action and emotion.
