In a matter of hours, some 83,000 tweets flooded in with a wide mix of sensible suggestions, complaints, memes, and borderline insanity regarding various Twitter-related matters, though a number of irrelevant topics also found their way.

Common issues raised in responses include the Twitter verificationwhich is getting more confusing by the day, suspended accounts and requests for various features.

Several responses called for a dislike button, others for a redesign of Twitter’s website, while at least one person called for the return of Fleets, Twitter’s short-lived effort to compete with Snapchat and Instagram Stories that was abandoned in 2021. The bizarre tweets include one asking how to open a mayonnaise jar with a stuck lid (holding it under a stream of hot water for a few seconds does the trick, apparently), and another asking how to save a receding hairline.

At the time of this writing, Musk, who recently bought Twitter for $44 billion, has responded to just one of the replies, no small feat considering how his time is now occupied by not one, not even two, but five big companies (Twitter, SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company and Neuralink).

Instead of responding personally to every response, a later tweet Musk responded to each response in one go: “Keep in mind that Twitter will do a lot of silly things in the coming months,” he said. We will keep what works and change what doesn’t.”
