The operational and extinction department of the Infoca Plan has determined the relocation of the people evacuated this Monday in the area of Los Carrascos and Las Vaquerizas, in the municipalities of Rociana and Bonares, due to the forest fire that maintains level 1 of the Plan of Emergency due to Forest Fires in Andalusia (Infoca Plan) in the province of Huelva, but, given the evolution of the fire, it has been decided to maintain the eviction in prevention of 236 homes in the municipality of Almonte as well as in a seasonal area in La Cañada .
This was agreed during the first coordination meeting held early this Tuesday morning at the Advanced Command Post (PMA), located at kilometer 3 of the A-483 highway in the Bonares transport logistics center, where the fire situation has been analyzed, as indicated by the Board in a press release.
The 236 homes evacuated in prevention belong to the towns of Almonte de El Porretal, La Cañada, La Tirimbola and Los Reyes. Of them, only two people have needed relocation in the Almonte municipal sports center set up by the City Council to welcome the affected residents and two other people have been taken to a house of the Consistory.
The deputy director of the COP Infoca in Huelva, Alejandro López, reported at the coordination meeting that they are currently working on the right flank of the fire, in the municipality of Almonte, where “all the efforts” of the security services are concentrated. extinction for the protection of people and the environment, because it is the area that “most worries” for being the closest to the Doñana National Park, although a perimeter has been carried out with heavy machinery to prevent its arrival in areas “more criticism”.
More than a hundred troops
The Plan Infoca forest firefighting device has mobilized this Tuesday more than a hundred professionals including forest firefighters, Operations and Extinction Technicians and Environmental Agents, in addition to seven heavy extinguishing vehicles.
Eleven aerial means have also been mobilized, with two helicopters from the Pinofranqueado Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigade (Cáceres) and two amphibious planes from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the central Government, which have joined at dawn to attend the forest fires of Bonares and Almonte at the disposal of the extinction management in both fires.
The Forest Fire Medical Unit, the Mobile Meteorology and Transmission Unit and the Forest Fire Analysis and Monitoring Unit are deployed on the ground.
Also involved in the fire are members of the Civil Guard, the Provincial Firefighters Consortium –which ensures the safety of the perimeter of the houses and the supply of water to the forestry facilities–, the Andalusian Emergency Group (GREA), Local Police, the National Police Unit attached to the Autonomous Community, the Health Emergency Center (CES) 061 and various Civil Protection volunteer groups in the province.
The acting delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva, Álvaro de Burgos, thanked “the work of the professionals and the collaboration of all the administrations that work in a coordinated and dedicated manner to protect the neighbors and the environment”.
The general director of Emergencies and Civil Protection, Agustín Muñoz, has followed first-hand the actions that have been carried out at the PMA throughout the early morning, while stating that the return of the neighbors will be authorized when there are full security guarantees , “because prevention comes first and safeguarding people’s safety is our priority”.
Calls to 112
As of 3:45 p.m. on Monday, Telephone 112 received more than fifty calls from individuals who warned of a column of smoke in Bonares and which caused the Acting Government Delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva, Álvaro de Burgos , will activate at 5:47 p.m. level 1 of the Andalusian Forest Fire Emergency Plan (Infoca Plan) in the province of Huelva.
Level 1 of the Plan is activated in those fires in which, being able to be controlled with the expected extinguishing means, it is estimated, due to their possible evolution, the need to put into practice measures for the protection of people and goods of a non-forest nature. For their part, the municipalities of Almonte, Bonares and Rociana have also activated their Municipal Emergency Plans (PEM).
