An explosive attack suffered on the night of Tuesday, September 13, at Northeastern University in Boston. The package contained a rambling note criticizing the founder of Facebook, mark zuckerbergand the relationship between academic institutions and VR developers, multiple federal law enforcement sources told CNN.
A 45-year-old man who opened the package was injured in the situation. While the employee was not seriously injured, the explosion caused injuries to his hands, including lacerations, the sources added.
“The staff member sustained minor injuries and is being treated,” Shannon Nargi, a spokeswoman for Northeastern University, told CNN in an email. The package was delivered to Holmes Hall, Nargi said.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu praised the law enforcement response.
“We want to make sure that we emphasize that this is of the highest priority, the safety and well-being of all of our young people here,” Wu said during the news conference.
