FAAN insists MMI airport car park is safe for travellers, beefs up security at facility

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has maintained that the car park at the Murtala Muhammed International (MMI) Airport, Lagos which is managed by Messrs Seymour Nigeria Limited is safe for travellers and vehicles.

This is as the agency has announced that security has been beefed up at the car park facility of the airport.
The reaction of FAAN follows reports by both social media and some traditional media of complaints by motorists about how accessories are being stolen from their vehicles that were parked at the car park.

This disclosure is contained in a statement issued by FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Henrietta Yakubu, on Wednesday.

What the FAAN Spokesperson is saying in the statement

The statement from FAAN reads, “With respect to a story making the rounds on social media and other traditional media on the above subject, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to state that the car park facility at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, being managed by Messrs Seymour Nigeria Limited is safe for travellers and vehicles, as additional security measures have been put in place to forestall the re-occurrence of such acts.

The unfortunate incident, which has been thoroughly reviewed and addressed, is an isolated case in the history of the Management of the facility.

What you should know

Recall that a day ago, motorists and travellers alike complained about forced entry into parked cars, removal of car accessories and personal effects, coupled with harassment of users at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport car park. This is as serious concerns were raised about the inability of the operator of the 6-storey ultramodern car park to do anything.

According to reports, this was the third time in a week, the Seymour Aviation Multi-level Car Park at the airport has recorded multiple vandalisation of vehicles at the fee-for-service facility.

The motorists alleged that the airport parking garage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport is being operated by a syndicate of thieves.
