Facebook vetoes Taliban accounts and content

The social network Facebook confirmed this Tuesday that it has banned all content that supports the Taliban from its platforms, considering them a terrorist organization.

The company, as indicated to the BBC network, has formed a group of Afghan experts to closely monitor any content that may be related to the Taliban, who for many years have used social media to spread their messages.

“The Taliban are considered a terrorist organization under US law and we have banned them from our services under (so-called) Dangerous Organization policies. This means that we remove accounts held by or on behalf of the Taliban and it is prohibited praise, support and representation of them, “a Facebook spokesperson told the British network.

The Afghan experts assigned, according to the source, speak Dari and Pashto and can help identify the content.

Facebook has specified that its policy applies to all its platforms, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, and has warned that it will take action if it locates accounts linked to the Taliban.
