Field: Liaison Commission calls for a change of course

The agricultural entities yesterday demanded a “change of course” from the Government after the legislative elections and said they were willing to dialogue with all sectors. The entities enrolled in the Liaison Commission asked to completely eliminate the trap on meat exports, lower withholdings and avoid interventions in the markets. The head of the Rural Society, Nicol├ís Pino, said that it is necessary to “fully open meat exports, because our country cannot continue to miss opportunities”, alluding, among others, to the markets that Uruguay took from Argentina. The rural entities trust that the new conformation of the congress will make it possible to advance with changes to favor agricultural activity. As an example, he mentioned the need for a seed law according to current times and a new tax law so that the countryside pays taxes, like the other sectors, and puts an end to export taxes.
