Five dead in shooting in Toronto

Five people have died this Sunday when an armed individual shot inside an apartment block in the Canadian town of Vaughan, a suburb about 40 kilometers north of Toronto.

According to the Police, the alleged perpetrator of the multiple murder died in a confrontation with the security forces.

“When the Police arrived, there was an interaction between the agents and a man, who was wounded by a gunshot. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, ”the York regional police said in a statement released late this Sunday. The events occurred around 7:20 p.m. (local time) this Sunday.

“Ghastly scene,” York Police Chief James MacSween said. “Six deceased. One of them is the subject. The other five are victims. The police chief added that a seventh person shot by the suspect was in the hospital but is expected to survive, the AP reports.

Police still don’t know if all the victims are related or the motives for the multiple murder.

Ontario’s special investigations unit, which intervenes when there is a death or serious injury involving police, is investigating what happened.
