Five dead in the fire at a nursing home in the Valencian town of Moncada

Five people have died and eleven have been injured on Tuesday night, three of them seriously, in the fire at a nursing home in Moncada (Valencia), according to Emergencies of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The fire occurred around 11:21 p.m. on Tuesday in the center, located on Calle Mayor in the Valencian municipality, and forced the preventive eviction of 70 residents. The fire has affected an entire wing of the residence.

The injured were transferred to the Doctor Peset hospital, the Arnau de Vilanova hospital, the Clinical hospital and the Manises hospital.

On the other hand, around 03.00 hours the judge on duty completed the proceedings for the transfer of the corpses to the Institute of Legal Medicine, where the autopsy will be carried out.

Four crews from the Firefighters Consortium, two SAMU and two Basic Life Support (SVB) were mobilized to the scene. According to the sources, upon arrival at the residence the fire was already fully developed, affecting one wing of the building, and the firefighters immediately began rescue and fire extinguishing tasks.

With the collaboration of the Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection and the same staff of the residence, the rest of the residence was evicted, up to a total of approximately 70 people.
