Activity bracelets have become a very interesting gadget. Especially for people who regularly exercise, since they are able to measure heart rate, sports activities, steps, etc. But, if you are looking to get one of them, which one is the best? The first thing is to distinguish well that an activity bracelet is not a smartwatch.
The bands They are usually cheaper than smartwatches, but they also have much fewer features and possibilities. Although this is not inherently negative, since depending on what we are looking for, the activity bracelet may be a better option (and not only because of the price).
If you are looking for a watch with which you can simply keep track of your exercises and not make a large investment, then the bands they are your option. If you are looking for a complement to the mobile, and even a substitute for it while doing sports, then you should review the characteristics of the smartwatch.
Xiaomi is one of the most popular brands in Spain and in the activity wristband market it could not be left behind. Both the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 model and the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 are two options to take into account if we look a good band without even exceeding 50 euros in price (see offers) –20/25 euros for the Mi Band 4 and 35/40 for the Mi Band 5–.
The first thing that surprises, of both models, is their great autonomy: between 15 (Mi Band 5) and 20 days (Mi Band 4). That is, two weeks of use without having to charge it (although this is a bit uncomfortable, yes). Regarding the design, both 5 and 4 are the same.
The differences between the fourth and fifth are in, in addition to the price, the screen and some functions. The Mi Band 5 has a 1.1-inch screen compared to 0.95 of the previous one and a little more resolution; it also has an improvement in brightness.
This makes the screen of the Mi Band 5, in general, more visible and allows, for example, notifications to be read without any problem. Regarding the functions, the Mi Band 5 has a couple of improvements.
It makes a more continuous monitoring of the heart rate, pulse … it also has a sleep analysis and even a monitoring of the menstrual cycle. In addition, it expands the list of sports from the six of the Mi Band 4 to eleven in the Mi Band 5. Either of the two models is a good option if we are looking for an activity bracelet with a lot of autonomy and a good price.
With Amazfit Band 5, the basic bracelet manufactured by Amazon, you can measure the oxygen saturation in your blood and understand your physical condition with the OxygenBeats program, ideal during high intensity workouts and sports such as marathons and gym workouts.
It also features a heart rate tracker for studying. if it is normal both during sleep and in moments of physical activity and thus give us alerts. This optical monitoring allows you to accurately track steps taken in real time, monitoring your heart rate throughout the day, distance traveled, calories burned, and sleeping patterns.
It also presents interaction with Amazon Alexa, so it incorporates this voice assistant and can answer questions, give us directions, etc., always in connection with a smartphone. The battery life is, according to the manufacturer, two weeks. Its price is the best: although it costs 50 euros, is on sale for 29 euros.
3. Honor Band 5
The Honor Band 5, as part of its group, is the alternative for those users who have a Huawei device. Without exceeding 45 euros, it is an option very similar to the already presented Mi Band 4/5.
In this case, something must be taken into account: as long as we do not have an Honor / Huawei device, the Honor Band 5 will lose charm. Although they are not incompatible with other brands, it is noticeable when it is not connected to a mobile from your own home.
Despite this, the Honor Band 5 is a very complete activity bracelet that also has NFC (which allows, for example, to be used to pay). With a 0.95-inch AMOLED screen, it responds very well in bright light and bright colors (albeit without automatic brightness).
Among the usual functions –heart rate, step monitoring… – stands out the sensor that allows to record oxygenation in blood; something not so usual. All these data, like the previous ones, are managed from the relevant app. Regarding autonomy, the Honor Band 5 can last up to six days of use and 20 in standby mode.
Four. ✌🏻 Consumption Preference Of course: 4. Huawei Band 6
The Huawei Band 6 monitors blood oxygen saturation levels automatically and continuously throughout the day and sends alerts if the levels are low. Its AMOLED screen offers a 148% larger size compared to previous versions so you don’t miss anything.
The Huawei band offers a battery life of 14 days, in typical use, and in intense use around 10 days. It is a pulse that has 14 different sports to register (three by default and 11 that can be added from the app) as well as a measurement of calorie burn -when an exercise is being carried out-, heart rate, etc.
Finally, Huawei Band 6 can accurately identify various stages of sleep, including deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep, wakefulness, and naps, based on the HUAWEI TruSleep algorithm. Its price is 59 euros, although is on sale for 39 euros.
5. ✌🏻 Consumer Preference Clear: Fitbit Charge 4
But if the budget allows it and we are looking for a complete activity bracelet, the Fitbit Charge 4 may be an option. Although its price is much higher than the rest of the alternatives, almost 150 euros (although it usually goes down in several offers), is the most complete and functional band.
The Fitbit Charge 4 does not have the screen as a strong point. Monochromatic, OLED and 1-inch, it does its job without standing out. In what does stand out this band it is both in the measurement of parameters and in connectivity.
The Fitbit Charge 4 has both Bluetooth 4.0, as well as NFC (payment from the bracelet), as well as GPS. The latter, although it drains the battery of seven days of autonomy faster, is very interesting for those who are passionate about running, walking or even doing different routes.
Thanks to this, you can leave your mobile at home with the security of knowing the route (and that it is recorded). At the same time, its great section is the measurement of parameters during sport.
Fitbit Charge 4 allows you to have seven of the 21 sports available to you. Thanks to the application, compatible with iOS and Android, we can keep a record of all our activity.
Among the most curious records, the “active zone minutes” stands out. This parameter records the intensity of the sport (according to WHO), so as not to exceed 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of intense activity.
