A 10-year-old boy was found dead inside a suitcase on Thursday in the town of Ferrières-en-Brie, on the outskirts of Paris, and his mother was arrested on Friday, the local prosecutor’s office said.
The 33-year-old woman, wanted since Wednesday for her partner’s complaint, was arrested at the home of a member of her family, in Choisy-le-Roy, another Parisian suburb.
Authorities were alerted Wednesday to the presence of bloodstains in the family home and immediately launched search operations.
Investigations led to the discovery of the boy’s body “hidden in a rolling suitcase, in a rubble container a hundred meters from the family home,” prosecutor Laureline Peyrefitte said in a statement Thursday.
“He had several serious injuries, most likely caused by a knife,” he added.
The autopsy is scheduled for this Friday and the criminal brigade of the Versailles judicial police launched an investigation for the voluntary homicide of a minor under 15 years of age.
