Mexican actor Gael García Bernal will be the next star to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
García Bernal will play the protagonist of a Halloween special that will premiere in 2022 and will have to do with werewolves. Specifically, it speaks of Werewolf by Night, name that two characters from the Marvel comics have used.
As reported by the site The Wrap, all the details related to this new show are kept secret. And in addition to the name of Gael García Bernal, what is known is that the production will begin shooting in the first months of 2022 and that it will premiere the same year on Disney Plus.
As for the possible characters that García Bernal could play, it is believed that they could be either Jack Russell or Jake Gomez. Both have used the same name and they are werewolves or lycanthropes that can transform without a full moon, in Russell’s case. Instead, Jake Gomez belongs to a family of Native Americans who also suffer from lycanthropy.
Considering the name and origin of the second character, it is possible that the special is based on Jake Gomez, although for now everything is speculation.
Gael García Bernal is no stranger to great Disney productions. A few years ago he was part of the central cast of the successful animated film Coconut, where he lent his voice for the character of Héctor and not only in the English version, but also in Spanish. In addition, in 2016 he won a Golden Globe for his participation in the Amazon series Mozart in the Jungle.
