Watches loaded with technology and ready for adventure
Garmin presents us with the Fēnix 7 in three sizes (42mm, 47mm and 51mm) and three editions (Standard, Solar and Sapphire Solar). In all cases, the casings are of fiber reinforced polymer, with metal back covers and silicone straps. The first two editions have stainless steel bezels, while Sapphire Solar goes for the titanium.
The whole family gets touch screens, a feature that was present in other proposals of the brand but had been slow to appear in the Fēnix watches. This new way of interacting with the interface is in addition to the 5 physical buttons available on the device.
Another novelty this year is the incorporation of a multi-LED flashlight that can be activated with just a touch and allows you to activate a strobe mode that changes color between white and red with the cadence of the runner. Mind you, this feature is exclusive to the 7X (51mm) editions.
Garmin claims that its 7-series is compatible with all major satellite positioning systems and that together with the L5 band range it can improve accuracy in “environments where GPS is challenging”. Also, all models have TopoActive maps of Europe preloaded, which can be updated directly from the device via Wi-Fi.
The Standard and Solar versions of the Garmin 7 have 16GB of internal storage while the versions Sapphire Solar offer 32GB, space that can be used, in addition to downloading maps, to save audio tracks from a streaming music service to listen to offline.
As for the battery, the duration ranges from 90 hours for the Standard model smaller up to 213 hours for the most expensive solar models. As expected, all options have 10 ATM water resistance, heart rate monitoring, SpO2, stress, breathing and sleep monitoring, and are compatible with Android and iOS mobiles.
