Google launches collection of NFTs and distributes to Youtubers

Without fanfare, Google released a collection of NFTs and distributed them to some content creators on Youtube. In Brazil, two channels revealed the NFTs, being the “Rich Cousin” it’s the “Video Course”.

According to videos posted on their channels, Youtube NFTs are exclusive works that are being given away to some channels. Each Youtuber, therefore, receives an exclusive NFT and can transfer it to a digital wallet.

NFts were created by five artists on the FLOW blockchain, a curious choice by Google as the network is not very well known and most NFTs are usually created on the Ethereum network.

NFTs do Youtube

Creators who received the digital NFTs also received a physical artwork that accompanies a letter from Youtube.

In the text, Youtube explains that NFTs are a gift to thank content creators for their talent and creativity.

“Hello, 2021 was a year full of uncertainties, in quarantine your creativity didn’t let the shuttlecock fall. In social distancing your ideas brought us together, in everything we went through you showed what it really means to create, you deserve all applause for your perseverance and for your courage to innovate without giving up your creative essence. In gratitude for the artistic talent and creativity that you offer the YouTube community, we want to present you with this unique and personalized work.”

In the video published by Primo Rico, Thiago Nigro shows the process to receive the NFT. As the art was created on the Flow network, he had to use a wallet called Blocto.

The token can be transferred to any wallet and therefore can be sold on the market. The name of the collection of NFTs created by Youtube is called “About Creating”.

Google e NFTs

The launch of Google’s NFTs comes as a surprise to many, as the search giant did not give clear signs that it was investing in the sector.

Despite this, as the market for NFTs has grown all over the world, so it was only a matter of time before big companies entered the sector.

Leaving the front of the race, Google managed, through Youtube, to surpass Facebook, which has already revealed plans to launch a collection of NFTs on Instagram.

It is still unclear how many NFTs were created. This matter is under development.

Videos showing the NFTs can be seen below.
