Google Play will lose the Movies and TV section from May 2022, the content of which will be absorbed by the Google TV application.
The Mountain View, California-based company said the latter will be the site “to buy, rent and watch movies and shows” on Android mobile devices or tablets.
Google TV will offer “the same experience you are used to in Movies and TV, with the latest releases, rentals, offers and great recommendations”, added the company in its support blog.
For its part, Google Play will continue to be the store of applications, games and books of the subsidiary of the American Alphabet.
The company emphasized that the Google TV app was redesigned in 2021 “to help you find movies and shows from your favorite streaming apps in one place, and discover new things to watch with recommendations based on what you like.”
In the same publication, he clarified that the purchased content will continue to be available in the Google TV application and that the purchases made there will continue to be eligible for sharing with the family and for Google Play Points.
Play credit and Play gift cards will also continue to be available for purchase in the Google TV app, from which you can access your wish list.
Likewise, he added, users will be able to continue viewing and requesting a refund for their purchases on Google Play.
Finally, he reported that both the wish list and the reviews are available for download through the Google site.
